[Loma ni Futing Workshop] Traditional Archery & Spear Throwing Experience

It was named as “Vataan” before the government was established. In the past, every family planted pigeon peas, which made Guangfu Township the hometown of tree beans.
The land area is about 158 km2, the population is more than 12,000, and the population density averages 78 people per km2. The uniqueness of this township include Amis Fata’an culture, Amis Afalong culture, sugarcane culture, Oryza sativa (Asian rice), red glutinous rice, black glutinous rice, arrow bamboo shoots, betel nuts, tree peas, lotus buckwheat (fire onion), ice products, wood carving, weaving , coffee… etc.

The Amis Tribe
The Amis are mainly distributed in Hualien, Taitung and near the Xiuguluan River on the Route 11 Highway. Guangfu Township, Hualien County, has preserved a very traditional Amis culture due to its geographical location. They call themselves “people who eat greens”, they consume a lot of wild vegetables, and this is why they have developed a unique food culture. Nowadays, varieties of Amis wild vegetables dishes have developed into delicacies in urban restaurants.
In Guangfu First Market, we will see types of familiar vegetables, as well as many strange but interesting plants. Through the explanation of the local wild vegetable expert, we can understand the relationship between these wild vegetables and the local tribes, the significant cultural heritage, story, and the way of cooking.
What's special in Loma ni Futing?
“Loma Ni Futing” is located in Guangfu Township, Hualien Rift Valley Plain, and is adjacent to the DaNong Dafu Plain Forest Recreation Park. There are Coastal Mountains in front of “Loma Ni Futing” and the Central Mountains behind it. Rich natural ecology, mountains, streams, aboriginal culture and traditional cuisine, outdoor water activities, which is a great place to go out for a holiday and relax.

- The camp area provides service reservation for roast suckling pigs, aboriginal-style meals, and river rafting activities from May to October.
- The camp provides experiential courses, a full set of tribal life and cultural skills experience, individual experience courses, and ecological fishing methods, traditional archery, traditional pigs, wild vegetables and plant identification, stone hot pot DIY, aboriginal traditional songs and dance experience, aboriginal people Rattan handicraft DIY, night view ecological guided activities, in-depth guided tours and interpretation activities.
(Guides and commentators are available for the firefly season in the Danong Dafu Recreational Park from March to May, and free bicycle to lend out in the forest park during the day.)

- It is quite convenient to stay here, it takes only about 5 minutes to get out of the camp to the Guangfu city area, and there are convenience stores and restaurants nearby.
Experience the Tradition
The traditional spear throwing is similar to the javelin throwing in track and field, but the difference is that the traditional spear throwing requires “accuracy” and javelin throwing requires “length”.

We collect “Handling Charge” according to number of participant. Other charges (eg. material, instructor, transportation, tour guide, meal & insurances) will be reimbursed with receipts & invoices.
