Wanrong Township
The land area of this township is 600km2, occupied with a population of only 6000 people, and population density is 10 people per km2. What’s special in Wanrong? They have the Taroko, Bunun, Atayal and Seediq Culture, and bamboo harmonica, xylophone performances, hand-woven products, traditional weaving products, bamboo rice, coffee and hunter school.

【Introduction to Songhong Farm】
Songhong Farm is a farm established on the mid-levels of the East Rift Valley in the Kunuan Village which located in Wanrong Township. Since 1998, they have been planting fruit trees (sweet persimmons, peaches, prunes, plums, bitter tea trees, sacha inchi, bananas, etc.) and leafy vegetables, and they’ve awarded the organic certification in 100 years. This is a farm with 2.8 hectares planting area and a cinnamon planting area of 1 hectare. The trees are 26 years old and the average monthly output is more than 50 kilograms.
A day tour is the most suitable to experience everything in the farm. The farm provides chef’s tasting menu dishes according to the different seasonal vegetables and fruits, and accommodation services.
The most recommended by the farm owner is the landscape that worth millions. The ever-changing sea of clouds in the morning and starry sky at night make you reluctant to sleep.
【The story of Kunuan Bunun & Bamboos】
Why the activity of making bamboo rice?
This is an activity that the owner has always been wanting to do. People in different regions uses bamboos differently in their lives. The Bunun tribe in Kunuan Village especially have special and precious memories of mōsō bamboo, and the bamboo rice was often eaten during Chinese New Year and festivals in the community. Especially the bamboo rice with marinated salted meat has the best taste, which makes the owner wants to share this great delicacy with tourists, in order to disseminate the culture of Bunun, Kunuan.
Through the guidance and introduction of the owner, we can find that the process of making bamboo rice is not so simple. Before making bamboo rice, we need to know how to choose the right bamboo, how does thickness of the bamboo affects the dish, which part of the bamboo is the most suitable, as well as the knowledge inheritance of many tribal life.
The wisdom of their ancestors was hidden in the Bunun culture, telling us that the bamboo carries an important part in hunting. When there’s a shortage of water when hunting, the ancestors will find a bamboo with the most water and cut it open to drink.
There are currently three types of farm experience tours:
The farm and the outdoor landscape restaurant can accommodate about 50 people, and we expect a group with at least 10 people. The duration of tour is about 5-6 hours.
They also provide accommodation for 14 people (2 double rooms, 1 eight-bed room, 1 quadruple room, 3 rooms with toilet and bath)
Camping is also available in the farm, visit us at anytime!
