“Awangbo Organic Ecological Park”, a park near the Jianying Park in Shanxing Village, Fenglin Town and owned by Rui-Hong, Lin, who’s nicknamed MingZai. After 39 years of hard work, it’s certified by the government as organic and non-toxic since 2019. In the spring season, various cherry blossoms, camellias, apricot flowers, rhododendrons, amaryllis, crape myrtle, four-colored bellflowers, etc. are planted in the park. Hundreds of flowers bloom, creating a scenic spot for enjoying hundreds of flowers in the Central District of Hualien.

Ming Zai, who retired as a government employee, actively builds this ecological leisure park farm in ShanXing Village, Fenglin Town. In order to convey and carry forward the ideology of being gratitude for our sources, as well as the love and caring from parents, he named the farm after his father’s nickname, Awangbo. Besides, he established a scholarship: Awangbo Scholarship for Destitute Students, from part of his retirement pension, 100k dollars to help those who are in need. He also included part of his income from the park and farm into the scholarship sponsor.

Surrounded by mountains, rolling hills and lush green trees, creatures chirping at dawn, breeze blowing at noon, sunset like an art, and ​​clouds like a fairyland on earth after the rain. The park is just right next to famous scenes like Jianying Bridge, LiuJiebi(6 Stages of Nose) Mountain, Fengluzui Neighborhood. In summer, fireflies are flying at night, overlooking the ever-changing and colorful clouds in the longitudinal alley, and enjoying the night view under the mountain.

What MingZai told us: The Coastal Mountains have high-quality medical stone terrain, and the clear and pleasant mountain spring water which is precious for reproduction of fish and shrimp in wild creeks, wild animals, and various precious flora. After about 40 years of this growth of natural environment,  more than 4,000 flowers and fruit plants have been planted continuously, including: cherry blossom, perfume camellia, rhododendron, four-color wind bell, ebony, tree grape, black persimmon, yellow fruit, star anise cherry, Wendan pomelo, white pomelo, etc. The park is divided into 5 parts, with 3 viewing platform, 2 wishing pools, and a centennial prayer bell. With such diverse elements in this place and the special landscape of it, it takes about 1.5 hours to enjoy the scenery with bare foot under the guidance of the professional. Different seasons can have different styles of view, like the plum blossoms and camellias are in full bloom on the 1^st day of a new year. How rich and amazing the nature is, making it like a mobile botanical park which has different appearance at different time. MingZai also wrote a theme song for the park this year, to praise the beauty of it together with tourists.

There are 600+ cherry blossom trees of various types, 800+ (100+ types) camellias, 500+ four-color bellflowers, 200+ rhododendrons, hibiscus, sweet-scented osmanthus, and 150+ crape myrtle of various colors. In bloom one after another, there are 1,600+ precious ebony trees. The farm is also suitable for various societies and associations to organize day trips to enjoy flowers and scenery and outing activities. Winter is the season when the plum blossoms bloom in the Awangbo Ecological Park, followed by all kinds of camellias, cherry blossoms, and rhododendrons, to welcome the new year.
