Treasure Hunting in Markets

The population of Guangfu Township is dominated by the Amis people, and in the traditional market there is a group of ina (mothers) who specialize in selling wild vegetables that the Amis often eat. In addition to getting to know vegetables, don’t bother having conversations with inas to know how friendly they are!

Amis Culinary Class

Tafalong mainly produces rice and glutinous rice, among which red glutinous rice is a special product of Tafalong.

Try 3 flavors of the “Kneaded rice”, make your own wine-pickled chilis, and the delicious roll which made of red glutinous rice and vegetables. The wine-pickled chili is one of the special products of Tafalong Red Glutinous Rice Lifestyle Museum. Using red glutinous rice wine-stuffed with pickled chili, this combination will amaze your taste buds! The red glutinous rice roll is one of the creative dishes. It uses red glutinous rice to make a crust and mixes it with fresh ingredients!

Tribal Culture

Follow the tribal experts to get to know the ancient tribe of Tafalong, visit the ancient stone well, which is a drinking water facility dug and maintained by the ancestors, and then visit the Kakita’an ancestral house to learn about the former religious center of Tafalong and traditional rituals, social structures, and in-depth understanding of the Tafalong tribe.

Red Glutinous Dishes

Know about the story of Tafalong through dishes. The Amis’ daily food, wild vegetables, and the one and only red glutinous in Taiwan, are what makes you fall in love with this place.

Traditional Ballads & Mochi Pounding

The Amis called mochi as “Toron”, which is a kind of precious food they make only on important festivals. Using the pestle and mortar, the rhythmic beating makes the rice glutinous and becomes a delicious mochi. Pound the mochi along with the beat of music. I’m sure this piece hard work will taste extremely great!
